JP Concerts presents the second performance of the Inter-NEC Collective, featuring an improvised accompaniment to Alfred Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps". Inter-NEC Collective is a group of students from the New England Conservatory of Music who are dedicated to Inter-Departmental collaborations. Our goal is to present performances where students from NEC's many different programs of study come together to contribute to the same works, producing sounds that blur the line between departments, and musical styles. JP Concerts tickets are $10 general admission at the door, $5 for students.
The world of Alfred Hitchcock has had a tremendous effect on New England Conservatory faculty member Ran Blake, who chaired the Contemporary Improvisation department from 1969 until 2005. As a result, NEC students are annually submerged in creative projects and classes that involve film. This evening will consist of one ensemble, which was mainly organized by pianist James Hurley. James will graduate from NEC in 2010 with a Master's degree in Classical piano performance. Tonight's ensemble will include: Wayne Shen (Violin); Daniel Hawkins (Cello); Aaron Gelb (Clarinet); Joelle Wagner (Bassoon); Josh Mizruchi (Trumpet); Jason Belcher (Euphonium); James Hurley (Piano); Brian Friedland (Accordion); Moses Eder (Drums).
